Manually Install Driver on 98/ME

Auto install VirtualCamera on 98/ME has problem. It's a known bug on Windows 98 SE. You must install VirtualCamera driver manually. Please follow below steps.

New version (build 0317) installer use Add New Hardware Wizard instead

  • Step 1.
    Uninstall VirtualCamera.
  • Step 2.
    Reinstall VirtualCamera by run the last version setup file, when installer display the message box said:
            "CAUTION: If you have not installed any camera before,
             Windows9x will need OS setup source disk.
             Install VirtualCamera Software driver will take a few minuts.
             Please press OK to start install."
    DONT press any button.
  • Step 3.
    Find the install temporary folder (If your windows installed at C:\windows, your can find it at c:\windows emp csetup). Copy that folder to somewhere you can find later. eg. c: csetup
  • Step 4.
    Switch to VirtualCamera installer, press Cancel button.
  • Step 5.
    Add Hardware
  • Step 6.
    After windows finished search Plug and Play device, choice "No, I want to select the hardware from a list"
  • Then "Next>"
  • Step 7.
    Select category of Sound, video and game controllers
  • "Next>"
  • Step 8.
    Press button Have Disk
  • Step 9.
    Browse to the directory where you copy the driver's files to
  • Step 10.
    Then Next
  • Step 11.
    VirtualCamera driver need Microsoft Kernel Stream support, this files (ks.sys, stream.sys etc.) may be already in your system. If not, use which packaged in VirtualCamera installer (Just press OK).
  • Step 12.
    After install you MUST restart your Windows 98/ME
